The transition’s deadline is set – it is a hard stop date. September 30, 2019, will mark the end of RUG-IV and October 1, 2019, the beginning of Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM). Once PDPM takes effect, the transition plan seems simple. Every Medicare resident who has a Medicare start date prior to October first will require a transitional Interim Payment Assessment (IPA) in order for facilities to receive payment for those residents. While this “changeover” to PDPM may sound cut and dry, there will likely be unexpected situations which occur during the resident’s Medicare Part A stay when it will not be clear when or whether the “changeover” IPA is needed. During this 90-minute webinar, we will dive into an array of scenarios, from simple transitions to complex admissions, discharges, and even interrupted stays, which could complicate this relatively simple transition plan.
