Career paths aren’t always straightforward, nor are they always what we initially wanted. However, we may find that an unexpected fork in our career path is exactly what we needed and where we need to be.
This was the case for AANAC curriculum development specialist, Jane Belt, MS, RN, RAC-MT, QCP, who started out in the ICU, worked through many different roles, went back to school, and experienced some life changes. Upon searching for the right fit for a new career, she found a small classified ad for a nursing home consultant that met her needs for flexible hours. She wasn’t expecting to enjoy it, but little did she know at that moment, she would be hooked for life. Here is Jane’s long-term care story:
