Get Involved

Being a member of AANAC doesn’t just mean you are ahead of the game with updates and education, it means that you have the opportunity to give back to the long-term care profession. Take your commitment to the next level by volunteering, becoming a mentor or mentee, or sharing your story with others.

Give your time and expertise

Join the AANAC Volunteer Community on AANAConnect. We will post any new volunteer opportunities and invitations in this community group for you to consider and sign up for. Volunteer projects can range from fun marketing projects to service on a formal committee. Other ways in which you can volunteer:

  • Be a volunteer at conference. We are always looking for extra hands to help with session sign-in and to distribute and collect evaluation forms. Plus, it’s a great way to interact and meet other conference-goers.
  • Participate in discussions on AANAConnect. Your expertise could help to answer questions and provide support to your peers.
  • Share files on AANAConnect. Why reinvent the wheel when you have a great tool that could be useful to others? Share yours and help a peer before they create it on their own.

Become a mentor

Give the gift of mentorship to a peer that may be new to the field or looking for professional growth opportunities. Your mentee can be right down the street or on the other side of the world, and can easily be found by searching the AANAConnect Member Directory. Participate as a mentor or find a mentor for yourself. AANAC has created worksheets and mentoring tips to help get you started.

Welcome new members to AANAC

Join our group of Community Welcome Volunteers and make those new to AANAC feel at home with their community of peers. It's an easy and fun way to send a welcome message to some new members. Interested in finding out more? Contact Tamara Rimpley at trimpley@AANAC.org

Share your story

Every person has a story and we want to hear yours. How did you get into long-term care? What gives you passion and energy each day? Submit your story and get the chance to be featured on the AANAC blog! Not into writing? Not a problem. We’d be glad to set up an informal interview by phone and put your words into writing and send along a copy for your final review.
