Until October, 2010, AANAC will be offering MDS Certification for both MDS 2.0 and MDS 3.0. Please be sure that you are certifying under the correct set of courses for the MDS version you wish to use.
MDS 3.0 Certification as Resident Assessment Coordinator-Certified (RAC-CT):
Our courses are written by the foremost leaders in the RAI/MDS process and are reviewed by a national advisory group with expertise in: clinical assessment and care planning, completion of the MDS, and the regulatory process surrounding the RAI/MDS process.
Individuals seeking to complete the MDS 3.0 RAC-CT certification will be required to take and pass 10 courses, including the following 7 core courses:
- MDS 3.0 Coding for OBRA and PPS
- OBRA Timing and Scheduling and the MDS 3.0
- PPS Timing and Scheduling and the MDS 3.0
- Care Area Assessments (CAAs) and the MDS 3.0
- Care Planning and the MDS 3.0
- Resource Utilization Groups IV (RUGs-IV) and the MDS 3.0
- Introduction to Medicare Part A
You must choose 3 elective courses from the courses available for MDS 3.0 RAC-CT certification. Once all the requirements have been met for certification, AANAC is automatically notified and will process the certificate; taking between 7 to 10 business days to be delivered.

The information provided in AANAC's MDS 3.0 courses are subject to revision based on future updates and clarifications by CMS, including any revisions that result from CMS' MDS 3.0 train-the-trainer session in April 2010.
MDS 2.0 Certification as Resident Assessment Coordinator-Certified (RAC-CT):
The MDS 2.0 Certification Program has long set the national standard for SNF MDS/PPS education. Until October, 2010, MDS 2.0 will remain the RAI Process in use.

Certified Nurse Executive (C-NE) Certification:
Individuals seeking to complete the C-NE certification will be required to take and pass 10 courses, including the following 7 core courses:
- Leadership and Management
- Human Resources Management
- Risk Management
- Survey Readiness 24/7/365
- Survey Management and Enforcement
- Quality Improvement
- Understanding Quality Indicators and Quality Measures
You must choose 3 elective courses from the courses available for the C-NE certification. Once all the requirements have been met for certification, AANAC is automatically notified and will process the certificate; taking between 7 to 10 business days to be delivered.
The C-NE certification requires that the participant be an RN. If a participant is not an RN, they can complete the course work and receive Credentialed- Nurse Manager (C-NM).

Educational Credit:
AANAC is approved as a provider of Continuing Education in nursing by the Colorado Nurses
Association which is accredited as an approved Association of Continuing Education in Nursing
by the American Nurses' Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
When an individual passes a course with a score of 80% or better, he/she will be notified of
this, receive contact hours for the course, and be entered into the AANAC National Database
for the Certificate Program.

These online courses were developed to serve educational programs and references for long-term

Course Formats
You have options! AANAC offers all of its courses in formats that meet the needs of all adult learners. You can choose from online courses, downloadable PDFs, hardcopy manuals and live workshops. If a format doesn't seem right for you, you are free to choose a different one.
AANAC membership does not automatically grant access to the courses. You must enroll in any course you wish to take in order to access that course.
FORMAT 1:
Totally Online - the most inexpensive and fastest
- Each course is $35 USD for members, $70 USD for non-members
- Take the quizzes and the final exam online and get your scores instantly
- You can't download printed copies with this option, but you'll save trees by going completely electronic.
- Access AANAC's on-line courses when you want and where you want
- Print your CE certificate immediately upon completion of the course
FORMAT 2:
Download PDF File and Complete only the final exam online
- Each course is $40 USD for members, $80 USD for nonmembers
- You can download and print the PDF file for each course, but this option does not include the Final Exam in the downloaded materials. Keep the printed file as reference
- You'll get an access code to complete the Final Exam online. No waiting for paper copies of the exam to be graded
- Print your CE certificate immediately upon completion of the course
FORMAT 3:
Complete Courses Online and Download the PDFs of Course Materials
- Each course is $55 USD for members, $110 USD for nonmembers
- With this option, you complete the courses online, take the Final Exam online, and can print a hard copy of each course manual for future reference.
- You have the option to complete the Final Exam online and get your score immediately or you can mail or fax your Final Exam to AANAC
FORMAT 4:
Order Bound Hardcopy Manuals of Course Materials
- Manuals are $69 USD for members for each manual, $139 USD for non-members, plus $7 USD shipping and handling per manual
- Except The MDS 3.0 Coding for OBRA & PPS Manual, $89 USD for members, $179 USD for non-members, plus $7 USD shipping and handling per manual
- With this option, you will receive a hardcopy manual which you may keep and use as a reference
- You have the option to complete the Final Exam online and get your score immediately or you can mail or fax your Final Exam to AANAC which may delay your Certification.

Workshops
- $450 USD for members, $650 USD for non-members (3-day certification).
- $350 USD for members, $550 USD non-members (2-day re-certification).

- You have the option to complete the Final Exam online and get your score immediately or you can mail or fax your Final Exam to AANAC which may delay your Certification.
